Enterasys announces partnership with PCM with a view to launching cloud-based Wi-Fi

Leading networking company Enterasys Network joined with PCM to announce the launch of a cloud-based Wi-Fi service. The new service, called PCM Cloud Wireless Service, will use Enterasys identiFI access points that customers will not only be able to deploy, but can add to.

The service will offer daily management, access point hardware, software and network setup in a bundle based on a monthly fee. The service is the latest addition to the cloud-managed Wi-Fi market, which is already manned by companies like Aruba Networks, Aerohive and Merabi. The difference between their solutions and PCM’s is the actual inclusion of APs in the initial set up.

Whilst the market is relatively new, it is estimated that it will reach $1 billion in revenues by 2017.
