T-Mobile 2G Connections to Receive 4G LTE Upgrade

T-Mobile customers can expect a major network update over the coming months, pushing mobile data speeds from sluggish 2G speeds to newer 4G LTE.

The 4G LTE network upgrade announced this week will allow the carrier to offer better coverage and speed to customers. Although T-Mobile’s coverage has been reported as being less extensive than competitors AT&T and Verizon, the network does boast the fastest data speeds of all major carriers. The expansion of their 4G LTE networks may soon have customers hungry for better mobile data speeds flocking to switch carriers.

The upgrade will begin this year, with company estimates stating that half of the project will be finished by the end of 2014. The rest of the network expansion is expected to be finished by the middle of next year, though the 2G network itself will not be going anywhere. Rather than removing the slow older 2G network, T-Mobile will be expanding on its speeds by introducing the LTE network to its coverage network.
