Unlimited Wi-Fi internet everywhere (the dream of the mobile communications age) is still a few years away from becoming a reality, but in the interim, you can stay connected wherever you go with FreedomPop’s MiFi hotspot.
If you’re a frequent traveler, or wary of unsecured public Wi-Fi, or even if you just want to save some money on your internet connection, then FreedomPop’s mobile hotspot device might just be the right item for you. Whilst the current bundle offer costs around $199, that can still be quite the bargain for travelers who are sick of paying through the nose hotel Wi-Fi charges.
During the first month of service, customers are given 2GB of data, whilst this drops to 500MB per month in the following months. It’s important that customers note that they will be charged for internet use over the amount of data they have been provided with, but it is possible to upgrade to more data-heavy packages relatively cheaply.
Internet-loving travelers will be able to pick up a strong Wi-Fi connection almost anywhere without having to rely on their smartphones to become impromptu hotspots. MiFi operates on Sprint’s 4G LTE network, which offers broad Wi-Fi coverage in many areas, but also drops down to a 3G signal if 4G is not present.
