As much as 65% of all e-mail received in the US is first accessed on a mobile device according to an enlightening study on US Consumer Device Preference by Movable Ink.
As difficult as it can be to type up emails on a smartphone, most of us are more than happy to check or phones for incoming mail- maybe even a little too happy considering how attached many of us are to our phones. Mobile data and internet access has skyrocketed over the last few years, and emails definitely form part of that trend. In fact, in the third quarter of 2013 it was only 61% of US emails which were first read on a mobile device, representing a very sharp increase in only a few months.
According to Movable Ink’s co-founder and CEO, Vivek Sharma, the sudden rise in mobile data use for emails is big news. “This quarter’s report shows that we are in the midst of a mobile takeover,” Vivek said in an official statement.
